New year events

Tastes of India

The Akshaya Patra Foundation has announced Tastes of India 2008 – the annual Food Fest for New Year celebrations, which is in its sixth consecutive year.

The event will be held on January 1, 2008 between 7 pm and 11 pm at the Open Air Theatre in Akshaya Patra premises, Chord Road, Rajajinagar.

The theme this year is ‘Wedding Feast Tradition of India’, that signifies exotic, time-tested and authentic delicacies served during festive wedding occasions.

In accordance with traditions, culinary dishes enriched with innovative ingredients will be served at the Fest, to provide rich aromas and tastes.

A cross sectional variety of cuisines from all over India will be dished up for food connoisseurs, taking into account the taste preferences of four major Indian communities.

If there are eggs-less satvik cakes reminiscent of Christian Weddings, Rossogullas will excite the East Indians.
Tastes of India celebrates the multifarious cuisines of Indian tradition.

It is an attempt to keep alive the food traditions from the nooks and corners of India. While spreading out a huge fare, the food festival is also a fund-raiser for the Akshaya Patra Programme.

This year’s event has been conceptualised with an idea to enable food lovers relive the wedding moments by feasting on a unique and exotic delicacies from four zones— East, West, North and South. Cuisine from each of these zones have been carefully selected and recreated.
