Tastes of India
The Akshaya Patra Foundation has announced Tastes of India 2008 – the annual Food Fest for New Year celebrations, which is in its sixth consecutive year.
The event will be held on January 1, 2008 between 7 pm and 11 pm at the Open Air Theatre in Akshaya Patra premises, Chord Road, Rajajinagar.
The theme this year is ‘Wedding Feast Tradition of India’, that signifies exotic, time-tested and authentic delicacies served during festive wedding occasions.
In accordance with traditions, culinary dishes enriched with innovative ingredients will be served at the Fest, to provide rich aromas and tastes.
A cross sectional variety of cuisines from all over India will be dished up for food connoisseurs, taking into account the taste preferences of four major Indian communities.
If there are eggs-less satvik cakes reminiscent of Christian Weddings, Rossogullas will excite the East Indians.
Tastes of India celebrates the multifarious cuisines of Indian tradition.
It is an attempt to keep alive the food traditions from the nooks and corners of India. While spreading out a huge fare, the food festival is also a fund-raiser for the Akshaya Patra Programme.
This year’s event has been conceptualised with an idea to enable food lovers relive the wedding moments by feasting on a unique and exotic delicacies from four zones— East, West, North and South. Cuisine from each of these zones have been carefully selected and recreated.
New year at the cinema
Inox, a popular movie has lined up a host of fun, games and contests to bring in the New Year. A unique 'Know Your Future' kiosk will be set-up for patrons visiting Inox from December 28 to 31. 2007. A tarot reader, palmist, astrologer and parrot card reader will counsel the patrons visiting Inox during the period.
The Tarot Reader will provide counselling on December 28, followed by the Palmist on December 29, the Astrologer on December 30 and the Parrot card Reader on December 31.
Inox little patrons are not forgotten either. On every purchase of 'The Return of Hanuman' movie tickets up to December 31 they will get movie merchandise like t-shirts, key chains, posters, pencil box, calendars, music cd etc. This offer is valid till stocks last.
Mall events
To commemorate its first anniversary, the SKC Mall at Koramangala and J C Road has organised a series of events for three months including a line-up of floor acrobats and traditional dances, hoopla-hoops, unicyclists, magicians, sword acts, trapeze artistes, balloon acts.
