The historic Honnammana Kere situated 6 kms away from Somwarpet, which is also a tourist attraction and the biggest lake in Kodagu district has filled to the brim.
Efforts have been made to develop the lake, which is spread over 16 acres of land between two lush green hills, into a tourist hotspot.
When the lake is filled to the brim, it provides water for hundreds of acres of paddy fields located in the nearby areas. It is interesting to note that as per tradition, newly wed couples visit the lake during Gowri pooja and offer baagina. Moreover, thousands of devotees offer pooja to Honnamma during the annual procession.
