The colour map has been designed by teacher of the Bharathi Educational Institution, L Ekambaram, and comprises of the six taluks of the Chikkaballapur sub-division of the undivided Kolar district. A separate map had not been created for the district after its creation on August 23.
Earlier, a map had been designed with the six taluks of the sub-division, but had a number of flaws. Ekambaram had evinced a keen interest in designing the map after rectifying the shortcomings. Deputy Director of the Department of Land Measurement, Krishnappa, had given him the guidance necessary for the task. A quality map has been created due to a three-month long effort.
A number of details pertaining to the district have been given in the map, and the taluks have been marked with separate colours.
Hoblis, Gram Panchayat centres, police stations, hospitals, post offices, telephone exchanges, roads, highways, tourist spots and tourist homes are among the more than 30 types of data included in the map. There is no scope for confusion.
Speaking after unveiling the map recently, Deputy Commissioner, Subodh Yadav, appreciated Ekambaram’s efforts and said the map had come out well. The map was unveiled at the Court Hall of the DC office. District Superintendent of Police, Ravindra Prasad, Deputy Director of the Department of Land Measurement, Krishnappa, V Gangadharappa, of the Ganga Bhavani Kannada Sangha, and others were present on the occasion.
Ekambaram’s maps are available in different sizes and those government offices, members of the public and others requiring them, may avail the same from his residence on Gangammana Gudi Road, or call 97414 97076.
