Nun expelled from Congregation

A nun, who was caught in a controversy following her alleged illicit relationship with an employee of a hospital she was working in, has been expelled from the congregation, reports PTI from Kochi (Kerala). The nun was employed in a hospital at nearby Aluva belonging to the Carmelite Congregation.

Minors taken to court, hands tied

In yet another case of police highhandedness, four minor boys were allegedly detained for three days at a police station in Kanpur and then taken to the court with their hands tied with ropes, reports DHNS from Lucknow. Two constables were suspended in this connection.

Menon’s bail plea dismissed

A metropolitan magistrate on Friday dismissed a bail application filed by Indigo Airlines pilot, Arjun Menon, arrested by police for allegedly abetting the suicide of airhostess Sucheta Anand, reports PTI from Mumbai. The Bandra metropolitan magistrate directed Menon to approach the sessions court for bail.

11,000 more visit Amarnath cave

The Amarnath yatra continued on Friday with 11,000 people offering prayers at the Himalayan cave shrine of Lord Shiva after a brief break forced by bad weather even as six more pilgrims died on the yatra route, reports PTI from Srinagar.

The two-month yatra was suspended after heavy rains in the morning that left the tracks slippery and unsafe.
